Human Rights Advisory Council Book Club to hold next meeting on May 15 with 'Insurrecto' by Gina Apostol, to coincide with Asian American Pacific Islander Month

May Book Club WebThe Evesham Human Rights Advisory Council’s monthly book club will return on May 15.

The club is open to everyone, and the book for May is "Insurrecto" by Gina Apostol, to coincide with Asian American Pacific Islander month.

Two women, a Filipino translator and an American filmmaker, go on a road trip in Duterte’s Philippines, collaborating and clashing in the writing of a film script about a massacre during the Philippine-American War. The translator reads the film script and writes her own version, leading to two rival scripts - one about a white photographer, the other about a Filipino schoolteacher.

The May meeting of the book club will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Evesham Township Library, 984 Tuckerton Road.
